Visualize Vectors: The Tip-to-Tail Trick!
Adding vectors got you down? Forget complicated calculations! There's a super simple visual way to find the resultant vector!
Subject: mechanics • Classes: 6–12 • Difficulty: basic (6-8)
The Trick
The "tip-to-tail" method lets you add vectors graphically. Simply draw the first vector, then draw the second vector starting from the *tip* (arrow end) of the first vector. The resultant vector is the vector drawn from the *tail* (start) of the first vector to the *tip* of the second vector. This works because it visually represents the combined displacement or effect of the vectors. For more than two vectors, just keep adding them tip-to-tail!
